Neustadt an der Aisch

In the middle of the Aisch Valley, where both nature parks Steigerwald and Frankenhöhe meet, you find the tradition-rich trade and school town as well as royal seat Neustadt an der Aisch with its approximately dozen countryside suburbs. Nearly two thirds of the entire area of 61.2 km² are used for agriculture, one third is covered in forest or serves as a fish hatchery.

At the axis of the old trade and military roads the district town has developed over the centuries into an important regional centre. With each step visitors are surrounded by the relics of past events: Picturesque alleys and squares, towers and gates, fountains and attractive parks invite for strolls or to just linger for a while enjoying the moment.

Neustadt an der Aisch and its surroundings are widely known for the Aischgründer carp and with the recently opened Aischgründer carp museum in the old margrave castle it has an additional attraction to offer. The carp is in season in the Franconian kitchen during the months which contain an “r”.
