Neustadt an der Waldnaab

Neustadt an der Waldnaab is located in the middle of the nature park Nördlicher Oberpfälzer Wald. Due its central location the entire Northern Upper Palatinate border towns toward the Czech Republic are completely accessible from the district town. The city can look back on a history of 800 years. From 1641 to 1808 it was the royal seat of the Princes of Lobkowicz. The city square enclosed in an oval shape alone offers many places to see such as the Old and New Castle, medieval town homes, the historical municipal building and the parish church St. Georg. In the years from 1890 to 1905 three glass factories settled here. Neustadt developed in the 20th century into a centre for European glass production. Sadly, only an exhibition glassworks is all that is left where visitors can experience up close the art of forming glass objects from the tough molten mass.

The picturesque area in the middle of the Upper Palatinate Forest, the lively Zoigl culture and the many events and festivals occurring during the year make Neustadt an der Waldnaab a popular vacation spot. A leisure and recreation resort with a playground, an in-door swimming pool and camp grounds with the most modern facilities and amenities complete the spectrum of services offered.
