Neustadt bei Coburg

Neustadt bei Coburg is the largest city in the Landkreis Coburg and is located in the middle of a wide basin in a countryside which is extraordinarily beautiful at the south-west edge of the Thuringia Forest. The Muppberg Neustadt’s closest mountain is 516 meters high and a unique recreation and hiking area. Many bike trails, especially the “Iron Curtain Trail” (European bike trail no. 13), lead through and around Neustadt bei Coburg. A modern in-door wave-pool and the fun park “Villeneuve-sur-Lot” contribute to the variety of fun things to do in the highly populated district city. Worth the trip are also the Museum der Deutschen Spielzeugindustrie (German Toy Industry Museum), theHistorical Christmas Museum and the information office explaining the division of Germany.

Hikers will enjoy the Muppberg and the Randberg. From the Prince Regent Tower on the Muppberg you are guaranteed a fantastic view of Thuringia and Franconia. The International Doll Festival takes place every year. And with this event the city has not only earned the nickname “Bavarian doll city”, it also celebrates the old tradition of doll and toy production in Neustadt. In addition, the well-loved Swing in the Park Festival takes place in late June, in July the children’s and market festival, the lights festival in late July, the Neustadt Hundstage (Dog Days) in September and the three-day Christmas market in early December. The cultural programs are topped with city hall concerts, open-air concerts, cabaret evenings and youth cultural events.
