Neustadt/Harz

The romantic state-approved climatic spa town Neustadt/Harz, on the southern slope of the Harz has been a long-standing traditional climatic spa town since 1890. The beautiful surrounding area with its old mixed forest, clean air and the special climate is highly recommendable for asthmatic and respiratory conditions, circulatory rehabilitation and for those in search of a retreat. Neustadt/Harz is at the foot of the Hohnstein Castle which was built in 1120 and first documented in 1372. The old city gate from 1412, with the Heimatstube, and an impressive Roland statue from 1730 bear witness to the former significance of the County of Hohnstein. The St. Georg Church and many half-timbered houses formatively influence the town, which has been able to keep its charm throughout the decades.

Many quaint hotels, inns, holiday homes and restaurants maintain the hospitality of the Harz. In various facilities Kneipp applications and oxygen therapies are offered. Forest bath, grilling area, camping area, parks, gondola pond, golf park, Hacienda Bowling Ranch, carriage rides, Nordic walking and mountain biking, Easter bonfires, Saint Walpurga’s Eve, Neustadt Fitness Day, Summer Festival, medieval castle festivals and the traditional Christmas market offer leisure time fun for everyone. Hikers have approx. 150 km of well marked hiking trails (in part also usable as bike trails) in the vast mixed forests and three spa terrain paths with various degrees of difficulty offer pure hiking fun.
