Neustadt in Holstein

Welcome to Neustadt in Holstein, the coastal town right in the middle of the Bay of Lübeck on the Baltic Sea and the outskirts of Holstein Switzerland. Founded in 1244, this is traditionally the heart of an entire region: Coast Guard city, homeland harbour for sailors and recreational boaters, a hot spot for beach vacationers, RVs and campers. Neustadt in Holstein has become a second home for many. The City of Neustadt in Holstein and both Baltic resorts Pelzerhaken and Rettin invite with more than eight kilometres of adjoining sandy beaches, the picturesque lake and the only south beach of the Bay of Lübeck to diversify your stay.

The heart of the harbour town of Neustadt in Holstein is the fjord-like harbour, which forms the centre of maritime life here. Here recreational water sports and port transshipment as well as colourful fishing boats and picturesque traditional sailing ships use the waterways of the Neustadt Harbour. An ideal place to lay anchor, to stroll down the harbour to enjoy the maritime flair and to “watch the ships sail in”. In the immediate vicinity there is the largest private yacht harbour with 5-star standard, the ancora Marina, which can harbour more than 1400 yachts at a time.

Also the historical city centre is worth stopping by, because there is a weekly market that has taken place on the second largest market square of Schleswig-Holstein for over 128 years. On the edge of the market square the stately city church, which can be seen from miles away, is in the style of brick Gothic and the Kremper Gate, the former city gait which is still intact, are great landmarks to see because it is also the home of the zeittor (time gate) which is a hands-on museum.
