Nové Mésto na Moravé (New Town on Moravia)

Nové Město na Moravě (New Town on Moravia) is located in the heart of the Czech Republic in the nature park Žďárské vrchy and was founded in the 13th century. As Nova civitas, thus Nové Město/ New Town, it was first mentioned in 1293 in the document of King Wenzell II. Nové Město na Moravě is also the birthplace of many excellent artists. Numerous sculptures adorn the city as an outdoor sculpture gallery.


Nové Město na Moravě/ New Town on Moravia is 600 m above the sea level and a popular hiking and ski centre of the region. Since 1934, the famous ski race „The Golden Ski“ takes place. The venue of this race has developed lately into a modern biathlon centre, where renowned summer and winter biathlon races take place and also the world championship in biathlon is held. In addition Nové Město na Moravě is the venue of the mountain bike world championships
